Depending on your personality type, wielding a stick as long as you are tall can be a great way to cut stress and tone your arms at the same time! When I first began practicing long-bo martial arts, I viewed it as just that- a martial art. As time went one though, I lost my interest in becoming a martial artist and yet, I didn't lose my interest in listening to the sound of that bo whirl through the air around me. It wasn't long until I realized that it proved to be a very good method for reducing my stress. Granted, you have to enjoy doing it for it to be any kind of a stress releiver, but if you do, what a way to tone the arms at the same time!
What is Bojutsu?
A very good question! Bojutsu, translated from Japanese as "staff technique", is the martial art of using a staff weapon called 'bo' which simply means "staff". Staffs are perhaps one of the earliest weapons used by humankind. They have been in use for thousands of years in Eastern Asia. Some techniques involve slashing, swinging, and stabbing with the staff. It was originally used my Monks or Commoners for self-defense.
